Rory Baker is a full-time commercial and wildlife photographer with over a decade of hands-on teaching experience. Having worked with thousands of students—from complete beginners to passionate enthusiasts—he’s developed a proven approach that takes the confusion out of photography and gets you results, fast.

What you will Learn!

Below is a basic overview of what to expect. In addition to this list participants will receive homework exercises which will be discussed at the beginning of each session. The order of the items may vary slightly during the course.
✅️ Session 1 - 4 - Introduction to Photography, DSLR vs Mirrorless, Raw vs JPEG formats, Lenses, Menus & Dials, Exposure Part 1. Exposure Part 2, Settings Rationale. Technical aspects and terminology, Focus modes, White Balance, Metering, Introduction to light, Depth of Field, Hyperfocal distance, Exposure Part 3, Composition.
✅️ Session 5 - Practical Sunrise: Workflow for shooting sunrise, bracketing explained, general shooting - people, panning, static subjects etc (depending on location).
✅️ Session 6 - Practical Evening: Shooting in golden hour, Low light shooting, Night photography, painting with light etc., (scope depends on location)
✅️ Session 7- General photography workflow, Intro to post processing, Recap and Photo Reviews.

South African Photographer of the Year 2023

A truly remarkable story. Linda started in 2016 with the Beginner Course and followed this up with several advanced workshops and courses, including Lightroom, Photoshop Essentials for Photographers, various Masterclasses and 1-on-1 Private coaching sessions. She went on to be the overall winner of the South African Photograph of the Year in 2023 and remains an amateur.

Amateur Photographer

Brigitte Jordaan did a Beginner Course in 2019 and followed that up with a Lightroom Course and a few Masterclasses. Like so many, her passion is participating in her local Camera Club and enters her photos in PSSA Salons where she has amassed a huge number of acceptances and remains an amateur.
