Rory Baker is a professional photographer, photography educator, wildlife photographer, and entrepreneur with a passion for helping people learn and create stronger, more intentional images. Photography has been a lifelong journey driven by a deep appreciation for nature, wildlife, and visual storytelling. Over the years, Rory has developed expertise across commercial, industrial, architectural, portrait and nature photography, combining technical excellence with a practical and creative approach.

Known for his ability to simplify complex photographic concepts, Rory believes that confidence comes from understanding. His approachable teaching style and commitment to education have helped photographers of all levels develop both their technical skills and creative vision.

Rory dedicates most of his professional time to photography education through Rory Baker Photography. As an educator and mentor, he has helped thousands of photographers build confidence, master their cameras, and develop a more creative and intentional approach to photography through workshops, masterclasses, online courses, and hands-on field training.

In 2014, Rory founded the Rory Baker Photography School with the goal of making photography accessible, practical, and enjoyable for photographers at every stage of their journey. In 2016, he expanded his educational offering by hosting wildlife photography safaris and workshops for both local and international clients. His ongoing work as a commercial and wildlife photographer ensures that his teaching remains grounded in real-world experience and current industry practices.

Prior to pursuing photography full-time, Rory enjoyed a successful international business career spanning more than 30 years. His career began in South Africa’s gold mining industry before progressing into the petrochemical, ethanol, and biofuels sectors.

Throughout his corporate career, Rory held senior leadership, marketing, business development, and trading positions in South Africa, the United States, and Switzerland. He worked with major organisations and independent consulting and trading businesses worldwide, developing expertise in international marketing, contract negotiations, supply chain management, and global logistics.

This unique combination of business leadership, entrepreneurial experience, and creative expertise continues to shape Rory’s disciplined, practical, and client-focused approach to both photography and education.
